FISHERMAN FLATS, MONTEREY — October 29, 2026. Fisherman Flats is specifically named in Monterey’s public 2026 road-surface repair planning list, with eight separate street segments carrying the code RSR 26. The entries appeared in the Measure P and S Oversight Committee’s January 26 agenda packet and pinpoint where the city had identified neighborhood roadway work.
The eight listed street segments
The published table names:
- Via Marettimo: Josselyn Canyon Road to Augusta Place.
- Etna Place: Via Isola to the northeast end.
- Messina Place: Via Isola to the northeast end.
- San Vito Circle: Marsala Circle to Via Casoli.
- San Vito Circle: Via Casoli to Via Taormina.
- Augusta Place: Via Marettimo to the south end.
- Via Taormina: San Vito Circle to the south end.
- Via Casoli: San Vito Circle to the east end.
Each is identified in the table as an RSR 26 road surface repair segment and assigned to the FF — Fisherman Flats area. The city does not provide a street-by-street start time or final completion verification in that table.
How should residents interpret the list?
Road-surface repair is a planning classification, not a promise that every block will be completely reconstructed. The January listing does not establish the eventual bid amount for each street, whether a contractor has mobilized, or whether any particular segment is closed today. Homeowners should use posted road notices and Monterey Public Works information for actual construction dates and access arrangements.
A separate city StreetSaver condition inventory, also in the January packet, lists pavement-condition ratings for some of these streets. The older ratings may explain why preservation work was considered, but they cannot be treated as a live pavement inspection.
Other work in Fisherman Flats is separate
These roadway entries are distinct from the Garden Road–Olmsted Road airport roundabout project and from the greenbelt fire-fuel removal proposal. Different government actions and different physical locations should not be combined into one presumed construction contract.
